Throughout the song, she is saying the word “heartwood”. Aside from the multiple other references to trees (the use of the word leaves, log, etc.), she keeps repeating the term “heartwood”. Heartwood is dead yet it is resistant to decay and is the oldest, hardest, and strongest part of the tree. I think what the singer is trying to convey is that when she passes away, the person she is singing to should always know that she will still be present with them. She wants them to know that just like heartwood, her spirit will be forever present with her loved ones and she will still be their foundation and confidant.
