Meteor Shower

In all honesty, I’ve been thinking about what to write about space for a good while, and nothing really came to my mind. It’s unique among the elements in that it’s just something that the greater majority of us humans have never experienced outside of watching from afar. With that said, although I don’t have any cute childhood stories or thoughtfully elaborated rants that pertain to space, I thought that one thing that really makes me think of space sometimes is music. Music can make us think and feel anything, it’s one of the most powerful forces that humans have access to. I listen to a lot of music, and when I listen on my computer or my phone, I use Spotify. Spotify gives you different stats on your listening history throughout the last year in a part of their app labeled “Spotify Wrapped”, and this year it showed me that my most listened to song: Meteor Shower by Cavetown. At first, I was going to just link the song and request a listen, but as last time I tried to do that I saved my draft and my entire blog post got wiped, I sat on this post for a week until deciding that not only will I include Meteor Shower, but I’ll make a playlist of music that either sounds like it’s from outer space, makes me think about outer space, or just plain talks about outer space. The sounds can range from the peaceful thoughts of space with Drifting Away and Crush to the chaotic destruction that takes place in the void with Supermassive Black Hole and Alrighty Aphrodite, but they all remind me of space. Hopefully this music also reminds you of space, and if you can’t find the time to listen to the whole playlist, then just give Meteor Shower a listen, it’s the song that sparked the entire playlist. Happy listening!
