music & the elements

This first post right here is called “shadows.” The composer is also the star of the video, her name is Lindsey Stirling and she’s a professional violinist who also happens to be a ballerina- you’ll see because she breaks out in dance while playing her violin haha.

The first video is good; however the second below here I think is much better. It’s called “Elements” and I thought it was so creative of her to even dress up to also portray the elements. It was funny because I came across these videos of nature, and it was sort of ironic because I’m using her one of her songs called “Crystallize” for a modern group that I choreographed. If you didn’t like the first video definitely check out the second one. I really hope I can research about how the elements are seen through music for the paper.

I really loved the second video Melissa. I liked how the music combined the modern generation of dubstep but also the classical violin! Insane! I also like the different depictions of the insterstices as well. For example, she is in a white dress which represents purity and innocence and just the way her movements and steps are performed are that of an angel of heaven an light. Very graceful and petite movements where as the scene with darkness and fire (hell) she is wearing a dark outfit and a type of gotchic look. Her movements here are very raging and erratic. I love the shift from light to shadow or darkness. Very awesome video and song!!

Melissa, I love her stuff. I found the first video just magical. As you watch it, you begin to see the shadow out of synch with her and first, I was thinking “bad job here” but then it hits you. Nicely done.

The second one is also exquisite although the violin in the rain made me a bit nuts. Well worth seeing. thank you for finding these.
