Like Shannon, I also enjoy looking at clouds and I always thought they looked like huge pillows or giant pieces of cotton candy. When I see clouds like these while on a plane, I just wish I could walk out onto the clouds and go cloud hopping, if that were at all possible.

Elemental clouds
Meta

I am always amazed by how powerful clouds are when one is flying. Our huge 747 bounces around, shuddering, in a way that suggests a terrifying fragility. Even taking off or landing through benign fluffy white clouds can send me stomach plummeting. There is something mysteriously unnatural about a incredibly heavy (1000 of pounds) metal tube being able to leave the ground and float through the air. It happens but I am always grateful when I can land safely and look up at the clouds instead of down…
I agree, the turbulence created when flying through clouds is terrifying, but I actually enjoy looking at clouds from this level because the scenery seems surreal.
